Light Rider

Developers

Random bytes from named quantum sources, each with a receipt signed by Light Rider. An alternative source you can verify, not a claim that quantum randomness beats a good classical generator.

1.Get your API key

to create your key.

2.Set your API key

For this terminal

export LR_API_KEY="lr_live_YOUR_KEY"

Keep it (zsh, the macOS default)

echo 'export LR_API_KEY="lr_live_YOUR_KEY"' >> ~/.zshrc

Keep it (bash)

echo 'export LR_API_KEY="lr_live_YOUR_KEY"' >> ~/.bashrc

3.Draw entropy

List sources

curl -s https://entropy.lightriderinc.com/api/v1/sources -H "Authorization: Bearer $LR_API_KEY"

32 bytes from one source

curl -s https://entropy.lightriderinc.com/api/v1/entropy \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen 2>/dev/null || cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/uuid)" \
  -d '{"bytes": 32, "mode": "source", "id": "anu"}'

64 bytes blended from several sources

curl -s https://entropy.lightriderinc.com/api/v1/entropy \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen 2>/dev/null || cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/uuid)" \
  -d '{"bytes": 64, "mode": "custom", "ids": ["anu", "cisco"]}'

Good to know

  • Price: 1 credit ($0.01) per 256 bytes. A failed draw isn't charged.
  • Sources: anu, cisco, iqm-qec, qispace, rigetti, iqm, or the full id. Receipts record the full id.
  • Sizes: 1 to 4096 bytes per request. A custom pool blends 2 to 8 sources.
  • No substitutes: if a source can't serve, you get 503 source_empty and aren't charged.
  • Safe retries: resending the same Idempotency-Key never draws or charges twice.
  • Limits: 60 requests a minute per key.
  • Your key gives full access to your account. Keep it out of public code.
